Woke to heavy rain, which predictably intensified just as we started to pack up. I got soaked, as did everything we were trying to put away. It was also pretty chilly, so much so that my hands and feet were both numb. Bring on the sunshine is all I can say. We hit the ferry port without incident, and once on board found our way to the cabin. Wow! What a fantastic room! We have a lounge, our own balcony with a table and chairs (not likely to get used in this weather though) – even a mini bar with free soft drinks! It’s bigger and better than the one we had on the QE2! The journey to Santander was pretty uneventful, if a little choppy towards morning, other than we had dinner in the restaurant on the adjacent table to ‘Boycey’ from Only Fools and Horses. He was dead easy to recognise as he even dresses like Boycey in real life! We also made some friends – Tony and Carole, a couple in their 70’s who were over for a few months as well, and were planning on staying in similar locations to us. They are much more experienced caravaners than us, having done similar trips many times before, and seemed keen to share their experiences with us. We exchanged phone numbers and promised to stay in touch.
