Hello All,
Ros here with a short and sweet update (if you’ve sat and read through Rob’s mammoth entry you’ll certainly want the key facts about the next couple of days!)
- For those of you who were on tenterhooks and waiting – Dad’s had his tooth fixed. We apologise for the shocking lack of updates since he left you on this cliffhanger but hopefully we can rectify your lack of entries. He needs you all to know that this was only £35 and I’m sorry I failed initially at including this vital fact.
- I haven’t admitted to Mum and Dad that I haven’t read the blog in a number of weeks which is getting quite worrying because they keep asking if I know about things they’ve written about. Whoops and sorry! I’ll completely understand if no one reads this!
- Monday was spent in Split. We all went on the bus from Trogir; although Debi and Ed came later and took the service bus, which wasn’t as nice or as direct as the comfortable, air-conditioned coach the rest of us had.
Lovely cup of coffee in the old town - We all explored the old town, dodged the other tourists and climbed the bell tower in the cathedral. Unfortunately we decided to climb up at 11.58am, which caused quite a shock when the bells started ringing. There is also a distinct lack of health and safety in Croatia, which meant that Mum and I didn’t particularly enjoy the whole experience, but the views were amazing!
The stunning view from the top of the bell tower in Split. Mum rubbing the toe of Gregarious of Nin. Apparently if you do this then you will return to Split and be happy - Debi and Ed found ‘Froggyland,’ which advertises itself as the world’s largest collection of stuffed frogs. Why anyone would want to boast about this I’m not sure!
- Tuesday was spent by the beach, visiting the local supermarket and generally relaxing. It is a beautiful place with some amazing scenery and everyone is lovely. A family BBQ was held in the evening with some competitive card games before we all headed our separate ways.
- Today we’ve been into Trogir. We walked into the town, which is a lovely walk about 5km along the sea front. This took quite a while but it does mean we have lots of opportunities for photos of the impressively large cruise liners. We explored the old fortress (which took all of 20 minutes but provided very impressive panoramic views of the town), treated Mum and Dad to a very nice lunch and found the most amazing toilets any of us have ever been to. Think automatic doors; automatic hand washing facilities and some mood lighting. We then sent Dad and Rob on their merry way so Mum and I could do some shopping. Unfortunately this was fruitless and all we bought was some bread before getting the ferry back to the campsite.
Another stunning view – this time from the top of the fortress in Trogir. - For those who are interested, I managed to book my flights correctly and arranged to spend more than 40 minutes in Croatia. We will be dining out on this story for many years though.
- Despite Rob’s comments to the contrary, I quite like our apartment. It’s basic but we have a stunning view from our balcony, which is lovely when I’m having my morning cup of Yorkshire Tea (thanks Debi!).
See, you can provide lots of information in a short space of time (clearly I’m the concise scientist), so hopefully this hasn’t taken up too much of your time. Debi and Ed should be on the final entry!
Love Ros xxxx
